Emerging Art

After having spent the last 4 weeks mostly back in nature, now I finally at ease again with painting as it comes.
For the last 2 years I tried to reconnect back to the artistic side which used to be naturally part of me. With all the other buzz in my life, I had this unsurmountable blockage whenever I made the effort to actually get my set out and artificially and on command squeeze out any creative energy. I ended up always being terribly frustrated which kept me away from the canvas for another couple of months untile the same experience repeated itself another time.

I suppose it does require the free space and in my case lots of time in nature to reconnect back to that creative energy. Now that I have opened a door, savoured its taste, I regained the tickeling and appetite to explore more....

Reaching higher ground - Music through unconventional means

Last night I saw Shlomo and the world's only Human Beatbox Choir at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. What a show, amazing what great beats and fine tunes these guys could create by their voices, sounds and the mics only. Half of the show was a form of improvisation and spontaneous collective creation, coming from 8 greatly diverse and complementing musicians who all have their own careers. At one point of time Shlomo asked the choir to remain silent for the first 10 seconds at least and then start with whatever comes up for them. It was stunning to see the harmonic flow of a great performance that emerged in the moment. Shlomo himself - after an initial solo-kick off before the choir entered - was guiding them like a conductor while contributing himself with delicious beats.

Listen to Shlomo - here or at Youtube

Another highlight for me was to see the kids of the Battersea Art Centre - who come together to learn beatboxing with Shlomo - performing with great enthusiasm that night. Some of them spontaneously performed some solo break dancing. Funnily enough, the Art Centre is only 2 streets away from where I live.

For those of you going to Glastonbury of Bestival this year, you might want enjoy seeing some beatboxing deluxe...

UFO's in the UK? Britains X-files are finally being revealed, oh yeah baby...

After leaving Brazil and the known region for UFO appearances - Chapada dos Veadeiros, where for the first time I had my very personal encounter with unexplainable phenomenons at the sky, I was delighted to watch this report on the BBC morning programme with to the following news:

For decades the Ministry of Defence kept what it knew about UFOs locked away in its archives. Now, the contents of what have been called Britain's X-Files are finally being revealed. One of the UK's leading UFO experts told Radio 4's Today programme about his hunt....(more)

In the spirit of the exciting news, I started reading "The Day of the Triffids" by John Wyndham , also because after having been to one of the 20 biodiversity hotspots of the world in Vale Dourado, I was quite intrigued about reading a book on how extraterrestrial plants take over the world!
